Understanding Ancient Texts with Modern Relevance: Insights and Exploration

February 28 – Megillat Esther

Join us for our series of Exploring and Analyzing The Scroll of Esther.

Megillat Esther, which relates the miraculous story of Purim, and Divine salvation, is central to the celebration of this holiday. Where is G-d in the Purim story and why is His name omitted from the book? Why is Esther, one lonely, Jewish maiden, the one chosen to save her people?
What is the role of Mordechai vis a vis his relationship to the Jewish queen? Who is the real villain? Join us as we ask, answer, learn and explore.

June 13 – Tehillim

Enjoy a hands-on exciting course where you will receive detailed instruction on hand building ceramic techniques – coil, slab, pinch – as you design your own unique object from a lump of raw clay. Part two of each project will entail instruction on ceramic glazing and guidance as to proper brushwork to apply decorative glazes to the project. The process will require two firings – once of the raw clay to produce the bisque state to accommodate the glazing and the second of the painted piece to become fully lustrous and functional.
