Come Alive – Social Adult Day Care Program

Impaired Older AdultsThe Gural JCC’s Come Alive Social Adult Day Program offers therapeutic, recreational and sensory stimulating activities for impaired seniors with memory loss, dementia and/or Alzheimer’s Disease. Come Alive improves the quality of life for both older adults and their caregivers by meeting the needs of homebound seniors by offering stimulating programs and enriching new friendships in a family atmosphere.

What do we offer?

We offer therapeutic activities in a comfortable, safe, home-like environment, providing socialization and emotional support to individuals with dementia whose needs cannot be met through a traditional senior setting.

Program includes:

  • Art Therapy
  • Music Therapy
  • Exercise to Music
  • Trivia and Brain Games
  • Kosher Lunch
  • Intergenerational Programs

Parkinson’s Support Group

The Marion & Aaron Gural JCC, in cooperation with the Parkinson’s Support Group Foundation of Long Island, Inc., provides a weekly year-round Tuesday Activity Center at the JCC from 11:00am- 2:00pm. The purpose of this group is to bring together Parkinsonians, spouses, and their families, in order to help them better understand the nature of the condition, gain confidence, courage and optimism, learn about proper exercise and “come out” and join in community activities. The scope of activities includes physical exercise, speech, handwriting, relaxation, socialization, discussions, entertainment and rap sessions to discuss common problems.
