Join us for our in-person Grief and Bereavement support groups, where you can find compassionate support in a safe, understanding, and nonjudgmental environment. These groups, geared for your specific loss, offer a space to connect with others who are navigating similar experiences.

Safety Net – Entitlements Program
Are you in need of free guidance regarding entitlements such as Social Security, widow benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, health insurance, etc. Or are you in need of emotional support and advocacy regarding caregiver concerns, parenting concerns, resources for children with special needs, etc.
If you have a concern and don’t know where to turn for help, contact Lisa Barnett, LCSW-R, Project Entitlements at 516-569-6733.
Entitlements Program is made possible by the Safety Net Initiative of UJA-Federation.
Widow and Widowers Support Group
The objective of this six week group is to provide support for the recently bereaved in a caring and warm atmosphere. There will be the opportunity to work through grief, examine feelings and discover inner strengths. New group sessions begin throughout the year.
Pre-registration is required.
Fee: $40 for six week group.

Counseling
Licensed, clinical social workers are available for individual counseling and home visits. Medicare and select private insurance programs are accepted.

Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group (T.B.I.)
This program provides ongoing socialization, emotional support and friendship opportunities. In addition, support, respite and resources are offered to family members. Exercise, counseling, lunch and guest speakers are all incorporated into the weekly program. Our TBI Program also offers cognitive rehab and group psychotherapy on Mondays at the JCC.

Caregivers Support Group
Are you caring for an elderly loved one? You may find yourself trying to meet the demands of work, family and caregiving, all at the same time; meeting everyone else’s needs but your own. The stress, anxiety and sense of being the only one carrying the burden may be overwhelming. Do yourself a favor. Do your loved one a favor. Join our caregiver’s support group at the JCC. Explore your options. Obtain practical information and referrals. Share your experiences with others. Talk a little, share a little, grow a lot.
